Description

Vintage USDA "Rate of Growth of Second-Growth Southern Pines in Full Stands" Circular No. 124.  By R.D. Forbes, former director, Southern Forest Experiment Station, and Donald Bruce, Senior Silviculturist, Branch of Research, U.S. Forest Service.  October 1930.
77 numbered pages and includes a few black and white photos.   Document made up of matte paper bound in mid-weight construction paper cover and stapled in left margin.  Document is also punched and held together with brass tabs in left margin.  The punch and tabs may not be original, I can not determine.  They have been there for a long time.
Measures 5 3/4" wide x 9 1/8" tall.
Overall, document is in good condition.  Cover has wear on each edge and a handwritten name and number inked on top right margin.  No other
marking or hand writing in it.  Cover and p
ages are yellowed. Staples are rusted. Back two pages have a tear on right edge about 1" long.
Document discusses economic importance of southern pines then presents yield and volume tables for second growth slash pine, loblolly pine, shortleaf pine, and longleaf pine.  Also includes stand tables for natural regenerated second growth southern pines.
Nice piece for forestry conservation history collection.
