Description
Vintage and original black and white photographs of southern pine plantation timber stand improvement on industrial timberlands in Escambia and Monroe Counties, Alabama in 1960.The photographs are taken on St. Regis Paper Company lands. The shirtless young men performing Timber Stand Improvement work (TSI) were likely high school students working on the St. Regis pilot forest for a few days.
The other photograph shows a period fire plow, army jeep and low-boy prior to burning a property in advance of aerial seeding slash pine or loblolly pine.
The photographs are 5" x 3.5" and are in very good condition.
Good addition to working forest history / memorabilia collection.
I have another set of slightly younger St. Regis and Kimberly Clark photographs for sale as well and will combine shipping if a buyer is successful on both auctions.
