NOTE: The pocket watch chain with Siegfried (Sigurd) charm fob looks better in real life than in my pictures. I could not find the perfect light when I took photos of this jewelry.
The fob features the Norse Viking Sigurd (Siegfried) presented as a handsome hero on the medal fob of this attractive watch chain. Both chain and fob are signed by FIX.
The French company FIX was founded in 1823. FIX made jewelry of exceptional quality in terms of design and materials. The 18K rose gold was sturdily laminated onto copper or brass, on a thick layer. This rolled gold/ gold filled process created by Francois Savard, produced beautiful ornaments in form of jewelry to withstand long term wear. Often, on the FIX jewelry we can see historical or mythological characters adorning charms, fobs, pendants, medals. The back of our fob medal continues the legend of the Norse Viking Sigurd.
Both, the fob charm medal and the chain (an end link of the curb chain has the mark FIX on it and a small square with another mark that I cannot decipher on the other side) are marked on the back with the same maker’s mark in a tiny square and the mark FIX. THESE BOTH MARKS ON THE FOB AND WATCH CHAIN ARE AN INDICATION OF THE AUTHENTICITY of the entire watch chain with fob.
The front of the medal is even signed by the artist who made the mold for Sigurd. His name, Becker, is very hard to read.
Condition of the chain and fob, in my opinion, is very good. Very light gold loss is present. This piece of jewelry was very well preserved.
Weight is 45.45 grams.
Length of the curb chain (including the ends, the dog clips) is 19.5”.
Diameter of the medal is 26 mm.
